Entertainment DJ

DJs, entertainment, functions, wedding bands, karaoke and more. What you need to know.

Whether you're planning a party, a corporate event, a wedding or just about any other occasion involving people and music, the chances are you'll need to hire a DJ.

When you're looking for a DJ there are things you should bear in mind. Who is the audience? Is it a kids' party? If so, you will probably want a DJ who will cater for the music kids enjoy. Perhaps it's a 40th birthday party, in which case a DJ specialising in 70s music might be appropriate.

It's important to talk to your prospective DJ to find out what he or she can and can't do. Some DJs try to cover every sort of musical style, with varying degrees of success, whilst others will specialise in one or two areas. If you want a rock DJ, for example, you'd be better looking for a specialist rock DJ as your average mobile DJ won't have the in depth knowledge of rock music that your audience will have. The last thing you want is for your party to be a disappointment because you hired the wrong DJ!

Also make sure that your DJ has public liability insurance, a Public Performance Licence and that his or her eqipment has undergone a recent portable appliance test (PAT).
